We want to sincerely thank everyone who has already engaged with the Review and, in particular, those who have expressed an interest in sharing their personal experiences. We are grateful to you for your patience while we finalise our preparations for hearing what you have to say.
During the first six weeks of the Review, we have been busy with a wide range of activities, including:
- Requesting key datasets and documents from the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS)
- Putting in place the foundations needed for a safe and effective review, including data protection, safeguarding, confidentiality, and privacy notices
- Reviewing published material, including previous reports and reviews
- Meeting with Baroness Casey and her original review team
- Holding introductory meetings with senior MPS officers and staff
- Mapping our likely programmes of visits, interviews, observations, and engagements
- Identifying key people from outside the MPS who have experience of it that we need to hear, from other public bodies to voluntary sector organisations
- Reviewing initial contact we have received following the launch of the Review
- Devising plans for how we will analyse material during the Review
- Developing our concept of citizen engagement, including citizen forums
Following this initial phase of work, we are now getting ready to hear directly from Londoners. This will include the opportunity for written submissions, completing a survey, and expressing an interest in attending in-person events. This will all launch shortly.
We are keen to hear from people of all backgrounds and experiences. You don’t need to have had direct contact with the MPS to contribute.
There will be separate opportunities for MPS officers and staff to describe their workforce experiences, too.
We encourage everyone with an interest in the future of policing in London to engage with the Review during this next phase of our work.
Thank you again for your interest in the Review. If you have questions, please contact: talktous@fairfield-independent-review.org.uk
