The Fairfield Review is an independent review of the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS), looking at what progress the service has made since Baroness Casey’s Review into the standards of behaviour and internal culture of the MPS in 2023.

Dr Gillian Fairfield

Chair of the Review

“It is more than three years since Baroness Casey laid bare her findings. This Review is the next step.

I was appointed by the Mayor and MPS Commissioner to run this review independently and I approach this task without fear or favour. In my report, I will call out areas of concern but also acknowledge good practice and achievements. My focus is on making practical, helpful recommendations to ensure the MPS gains the trust and confidence of the London communities it serves. I aim to report back to the Mayor and Commissioner in Summer 2026.

In March 2026, I opened our public engagement or ‘call for evidence’. There have been several ways I have asked for contributions and for Londoners to share their views on the issues Baroness Casey explored and any others relating to MPS’ standards of behaviour and culture that have arisen since 2023. I am particularly grateful to all those Londoners who have completed our online survey.”
